Aluminium windows: price, and when they are worth it
Aluminium is, as a rule, more expensive than PVC for the same position. But there are openings where PVC simply cannot do the job — and there, comparing prices loses its point.
Why there is no price list for aluminium
We have a table for PVC because the same sizes and the same logic keep coming back. Aluminium is asked for precisely where there is no standard size: glazed walls, large fixed openings, unusual heights, façade infills.
That is why, for aluminium and Hybrid, we give a quote after measuring. It is not a way of avoiding the question — a number without a measured opening would mean nothing here. Prices, as with PVC, exclude installation.
When aluminium has no alternative
- A sash heavier than 100 kg. PVC hardware has a limit. Aluminium carries over 150 kg without twisting.
- A glazed wall up to 3 m high. A PVC profile of that size does not hold its geometry.
- A slim profile, and as much glass as possible. When the aim is that the frame is barely seen, aluminium is the only choice.
- Commercial and public buildings. Fire requirements, a high flow of people, façade systems.
- Buildings by the sea and in an industrial zone. Aluminium does not fade and does not change its geometry.

What goes into the price
- Size and number of fields. On glazed walls, both the glass and the hardware cost more.
- The type of glass. Large formats need thicker glass, and often toughened glass.
- RAL colour. The whole range is available, but powder coating is a separate process.
- Hardware and opening style. Sliding and lift-and-slide systems cost more than conventional opening.
- Statics. Large openings sometimes need a calculation and extra reinforcement.
Whether it pays
Aluminium does not pay for itself through a saving on heating — there, good PVC is equal or better for the money. It pays through its life and through zero maintenance: the system lasts 50 years and more, it does not fade, it does not twist, and it does not need painting.
If you are replacing the windows in a flat where you plan to stay for ten years, PVC is the more rational choice. If you are building a house where the next replacement is not planned, the calculation turns.
