PVC windows with roller shutters

A façade with three white PVC windows and roller shutters lowered to different heights.

A roller shutter ordered with the window, and a roller shutter added a year later, are not the same product and not the same price. The difference is which one has to adapt to the other.

Why together, and not afterwards

When the shutter is made with the window, the box goes into the same opening and the height of the window is calculated with it from the start. When it is added later, the box has to go somewhere — most often at the expense of the glass height, or across the façade.

On top of that, one measuring visit and one installation cover both jobs. Adding it later means a second visit, a second installation, and usually building work.

A top-mounted or a built-in box

When windows are replaced in a flat, a top-mounted box is almost always the right solution — a built-in box means opening up the wall.

Manual or motorised

For motorised shutters, power has to be brought to the box before installation. Running a cable afterwards means chasing the wall.

Aluminium or PVC slats

PVC slats are less expensive and quite enough for ordinary residential positions. Aluminium slats are foam-filled, stiffer, and better at holding heat, and they are required on wide openings where a PVC slat would bow.

Over a width of two metres, aluminium has practically no alternative.

What a roller shutter costs — 60 € per m²

We make roller shutters at 60 € per m², including installation. The size is taken from the opening the shutter covers, so the price per position is easy to check:

OpeningAreaShutter including installation
80×120 cm0.96 m²58 €
100×120 cm1.20 m²72 €
120×140 cm1.68 m²101 €
140×140 cm1.96 m²118 €
180×140 cm2.52 m²151 €
240×140 cm3.36 m²202 €

The price includes VAT and includes installation of the shutter. The drive (motor, remote control) is priced separately according to the type and the size, and it goes into the same quote.

Window and shutter together — an example

On a 140×140 cm opening in VEKA 70: the window is 265 € excluding installation, installation of the window is 59 € (30 €/m² of opening), and the shutter including installation is 118 € — 442 € in total, including VAT.

The example also shows a rule from experience: on a standard residential opening, the shutter adds between a third and a half of the price of the position itself.

Window installation1.96 m² × 30 €/m²59 €
Shutter including installation1.96 m² × 60 €/m²118 €

If an insect screen goes with the shutter: a roller screen is 35 €/m², a pleated screen 45 €/m², both including installation. How to choose them: roller shutters and insect screens. A whole flat with the equipment: replacing the windows in a flat.

Common questions

How much does a roller shutter cost per m²?

60 € per m², including installation and including VAT. The size is taken from the opening the shutter covers.

How much does a PVC window with a roller shutter cost?

On a 140×140 cm opening in VEKA 70: the window is 265 €, installation is 59 €, and the shutter including installation is 118 € — 442 € in total, including VAT.

Is installation of the shutter included in the price?

Yes. 60 € per m² includes installation. For the windows it is the other way round — window prices exclude installation, which is charged at 30 € per m² of opening.

How much does an insect screen cost with a roller shutter?

A roller insect screen is 35 € per m², and a pleated screen is 45 € per m², both including installation.

How much extra are motorised roller shutters?

The drive is priced separately, according to the type of motor and the size of the shutter, and it goes into the same quote. Power has to be brought to the box before installation — running a cable afterwards means chasing the wall.

Can a roller shutter be added to an existing window?

It can, but it costs more and works less well. The box then takes glass height or sits across the façade, and it needs a second visit and a second installation. That is why the shutter is ordered with the window.
