Insect screens for windows
The insect screen is the least expensive line in the whole quote, and it is most often the only one customers later wish they had taken at the time.
Three types, and where each one goes
| Type | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | A frame in the window opening, taken down for the season | Windows that are rarely opened; the lowest price |
| Roller | The mesh retracts into a cassette above the opening | Windows that are opened often; it stays in place all year |
| Pleated | The mesh stacks to the side like a concertina | Balcony doors and wide openings that people walk through |
What chooses for you
- Whether people walk through the opening. On balcony doors a fixed screen makes no sense — a pleated screen is the only comfortable solution.
- How wide the opening is. Past a certain width, a fixed frame becomes awkward to take down.
- Whether there are pets. There is a reinforced mesh that resists claws. A standard mesh tears in the first season.
- The floor, and access from outside. A roller cassette is fitted on the outside, so on upper floors it needs planning.
Why they are measured with the windows
The screen sits on the window frame, so its size depends on the profile. When it is measured with the windows, it fits to the millimetre and it matches the colour of the window.
A universal screen bought later from a shop almost always sits with a gap — and a mosquito gets through a gap just as well as through an open window.
Price
Insect screens are priced by position, according to type and size, excluding installation, like everything else. Fixed is the least expensive, roller sits in the middle, and pleated costs the most — the difference is the mechanism, not the mesh.
If they are made with the windows, installation does not mean an extra visit.
All prices include VAT and exclude installation, for white. The exact price depends on the opening style, the hardware, the glazing, and the quantity — we send an itemised quote within 48 hours of a free measuring visit.
Add insect screens to the quote
They are measured with the windows, made in the colour of the window, and fitted the same day.
