The cheapest PVC windows
There is a difference between a low price and a badly bought window. The first is legitimate. The second is paid for twice. Here is exactly where the line falls.
Where it is reasonable to save
- White. A decorative foil and a RAL colour make the position more expensive and lengthen the lead time. A white profile is technically the same.
- Five chambers instead of seven. VEKA 70, with five chambers, is a serious system. Seven chambers make sense for new-build and low-energy buildings, not for a replacement in a flat with central heating.
- Double glazing where it is enough. On a north-facing side and on a noisy street, triple glazing pays. On a sheltered side it rarely does.
- A fixed position where the window is not opened. Fixed glazing has no hardware, so it is noticeably less expensive. On large openings the saving is significant.
Where you should not save
- Hardware. The most expensive part of the window that you cannot see. It carries the sash, holds the seal, and fails first. We fit MACO on every position, whichever system it is.
- Steel reinforcement. A PVC profile without steel in the chamber moves over time — the sash drops, and the window stops sitting properly. You cannot see it in an advert. It has to be written in the quote.
- Gaskets. The number and quality of the sealing gaskets decide whether a draught comes through the window. The centre seal on GEALAN 74MD is why that system holds better than an ordinary five-chamber profile at a similar price.
- Installation. A perfect window installed badly lets air and water through. Saving on installation is the most expensive mistake in the whole job.
Second-hand windows and imports
Second-hand PVC windows from abroad are sought after, and they can look like a good deal. Two problems: the size is whatever you find, so the wall is adapted to the window instead of the other way round — and the building work can easily eat the difference in price. The second: the hardware and the gaskets have already used part of their life, and spare parts for systems that are fifteen years old are hard to find.
For an outbuilding, a garage, or a holiday house, that can be a reasonable choice. For a flat someone lives in, it rarely is.
Where the real lower limit is
With us, a single-sash window starts from 102 € including VAT, excluding installation. Below that range, the market is mostly profiles without full steel reinforcement, hardware of unknown origin, or glass without a low-E coating.
If a quote is noticeably lower, the question is not whether it is cheaper — it is what has been left out. Ask for the quote to state the system, the number of chambers, the hardware brand, and the Ug value of the glass.
All prices include VAT and exclude installation, for white. The exact price depends on the opening style, the hardware, the glazing, and the quantity — we send an itemised quote within 48 hours of a free measuring visit.
Compare it with our quote
It states the system, the hardware, the glazing, and the guarantee. Measuring commits you to nothing.
